CSA China Earthquake Appeal Fund Rasing Week 10, Mon-Fri 11am-3pm

CSA China Earthquake Appeal Fund Rasing Week 10, Mon-Fri 11am-3pm, Main Library

To the people who are caring and willing to dedicate their love and help to the victims in the 5.12 earthquake,Magnitude 7.8 in Sichuan Province, China.

Fellow students,

The Chinese Students Association 同學會 (UNSW) is set to launch a major fund-raising activity throughout the course of the upcoming week (week 10) as a response to the unrelenting disaster that shook the central part of our home nation earlier this week.

As you may or may not be aware, the magnitude of the quake was unprecedented in the nation’s contemporary history. The tremor has taken tens of thousands of lives. Rescue efforts are under way within the nation but seem to have exhausted chances of finding survivors as the clock clicks on and bodies remain buried beneath debris.

The natural catastrophe has not only seen parents in tears as they see bodies of their children being pulled out of collapsed buildings, it has also seen surviving children too young to appreciate the sudden and eternal departure of their pre-deceasing parents.

Dear students, it is against this background that we look forward to seeing your presence there in front of the library any time between 11AM and 2PM Mon-Fri (except Wednesday, However you can still donate at UNSW Project Hope Stall at both Library and Quad Store on Wednesday) throughout Week 10.

If you already have similar ideas of fund-raising, then we strongly recommend that you join us and help out those suffering in China.

Fund Management:

All fund raised during the week will be legally collected by the Chinese Students Association as a Charitable Institution (non-profitable, registered Australian Body, ABN: 11 112 455 786) then deposit to the China Sichuan Earthquake Appeal 2008, an emergency relief under Red Cross Australia (http://www.redcross.org.au/ourse ... Chinaearthquake.htm) to ensure that the fund do reach victims of the 5.12 earthquake in Sichuan Province, China.

Newsletter of daily amount fund raised will be released.

Please note that donation fund raised at UNSW Project Hope stall may not going through Red Cross Australia. They may go through different organizations, but the destination will be the same, the victims in China.

To be a volunteer:

To participate this meaningful moment may simply involve you help out at the stall that we will be setting up and spreading the flyers. Being a fund raising volunteer here is as the volunteers at front line in Sichuan. Every piece of your contribution counts,

Suggestions raised by donors:

1. It's better to put Red Cross Australia logo on stall

Formal answer from Red Cross Australia: Use of the Red Cross
name, emblem(cross) or logo is strictly controlled by Australian and
international laws and fundraising organisers are not permitted to
use these on any communications or materials produced for your
fundraiser.

Updates: Mon 19th May:

Dear all:
We would firstly like to express our thankfulness towards all the
benefactors!! Our first day fund-raising activity was successful.
In a mere two or three hour period we managed to collect $2954.7, which will be passed
on to those in need in China as a result of the
terrible earthquake that took place early last week.

We would also like to sincerely express our gratitude towards the
volunteers who took the time to facilitate the fund-raising process
today. We are highly positive about the outcome of this fund-raising
project which will come to fruition this Friday afternoon.

During the remainder of this week, we would like to see your
continued and consistent support, by volunteering at the stall
